The credit crunch and shrinking savings: How to break the vicious circle to kick-start recovery?

6 junio, 2013

Where: EESC, Room VM3

When: 6 June 2013 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Increased investments, consumption and access to credit are frequently touted as the key to economic recovery in Europe, but so far no solution has been found. The result is a vicious circle that is now preventing businesses from starting-up, operating and growing, and hindering consumers’ attempts to save money securely and productively.

On 6 June, the Various Interests Group[1] of the European Economic and Social Committee(EESC) will bring together consumers, SME organisations, the banking sector, cooperatives, liberal professions and public interest associations to propose possible ways out of this current cycle.

The conference will be highly interactive and participants are expected to participate and put forward contributions and suggestions that shall be included in the conclusions to be presented to the EU institutions and relevant stakeholders.

Top speakers will include, amongst others:

Hans-Joachim Wilms, Vice-President of the EESCLuca Jahier, President of the Various Interests Group of the EESCOthmar  Karas, Vice-President of the European ParliamentMassimo Baldinato, Member of the cabinet of Commissioner Tajani
