In 2005, Mr. Jose Raul Vaquero – President of the Documentacion Sciences Foundation – and Mr. Federico Mayor Zaragoza – exDirector UNESCO – presented in Madrid (Spain) the project INFORMATION FOR CITIZEN CHANGE.
This project aims to change society through the information contained in the documents (in whatever medium), to generate an awareness in people that allows them to communicate a change in their social and personal quality of life, being the technology and the Internet a medium for this. To achieve this we work on three levels:
1. Political level: Raising the conscience of politicians that access and use of public information by part of citizens is essential for the development of democracy and the welfare state.
2. Professional level: Articulating a global multidisciplinary network of members to exchange ideas, research, experiences, best practices, … in an open and tolerant.
3. Citizen level: Socializing the information as a key to generate a participatory democracy with justice and equity issued by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; as well as on national growth, where information is the fuel of the Research, Development and Innovation (RDI).
