Worldreader.org just received some fantastic news: Random House Inc., the world´s largest trade publisher, has agreed to donate thousands of books for our upcoming iREAD pilot.  These include such classic works as Peter Pan, The Secret Garden, and Moby-Dick, all professionally formatted for e-readers.  The donation also includes the entire Magic Tree House collection by Mary Pope Osborne, which was a real favorite among children in our earlier trial in Ayenyah, Ghana, and a fantastic way to get kids excited about reading.  All of these books will be available to more than 350 children participating in the iREAD pilot beginning in November.  We are thrilled to be entering into a long-term partnership with Random House who will help us bring «books to all».

Worldreader.org also recently announced an extensive agreement with African publishers to digitize thousands of African books.  The first titles are available on Amazon´s Kindle store all for under $5. Now African children will have access to material written by local authors, and the world will have the opportunity to drive literacy in Africa, while enjoying the richness of African culture.  All proceeds will be split between the publishers and Worldreader´s program bringing e-readers into Ghana.
